Juniors @ KPS

An exciting place to learn!

Data Representation

Over the past few weeks in the Juniors we have been inquiring into Data Representation and in particular, how to create a fabulous pictograph.

We decided that there are 4 important steps to follow when creating our own pictographs.

We have had great fun formulating our own good questions, surveying friends and family to gather data and presenting our data in the form of pictographs.

We have learnt that a good pictograph should have;

  • A title/heading
  • Pictures
  • A key
  • Evenly spaced columns or rows
  • Labeled columns or rows

At the moment we are inquiring into Time so we are talking a lot about days of the week, the months and seasons in a year and calendars.

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the Family Picnic on our oval last Friday. The weather was gorgeous and it was lovely to see so many families enjoying each others company and in some instances, delicious food as well!!

Afterwards the students and teachers played host to the Kunyung community in their classrooms and by all accounts, the Junior rooms were positively buzzing with excitement. The children were enthusiastic about sharing their learning and familiarising their family members with their learning spaces.

The Kunyung carnival is fast approaching and with this in mind, we would just like to remind you that if families could volunteer to give some of their time to support this event, by volunteering to work for an hour or so on a stall, it would be greatly appreciated.

For homework this year it is expected that Junior students read for at least 15 minutes each night and that their reading be recorded in their Reading Log Book, which will be checked regularly by  classroom teachers. Remember, reading should be fun and we would like to foster a love of reading in our children.

Next Monday 10th March is a public holiday so we will see students back at school bright eyed and bushy-tailed on Tuesday morning next week instead of on Monday.
