Location & Transformation – Maths Inside

The Junior Students have begun learning about how “Words can be used to describe an object’s position in space”.

They are exploring directional and positional words that we use in everyday life, such as: left, right, clockwise, anti-clockwise, turn, forwards, backwards etc.

A great way to explore this concept is through the following website:

The students will need to give the turtle directions to reach the pond!

Thanks,

The Junior Team

We need YOU and an update on the move!

Do you have a moving trolley at home? Do you know someone who does?

We would love your help! If you can get your hands on a moving trolley we would love to utilise it for our move. Please note the changes to the dates of moving below. If you are able to help on any of these days it would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATES:

JW and JH will be moving this Thursday 18th and Friday 19th – ready to be in the library next Monday!

JI, JJ, JR, and JB will be moving Thursday 25th August.

Thanks,

The Junior Team

Thankyou!!!

A HUGE THANKYOU to those parents who have already volunteered some of their time to assist us with our move! It is hugely appreciated and as we know – “many hands make light work!”

Just a reminder that we will require all hands available on Thursday 25th August (construction progress permitting…). At this stage, this will be the day we move the majority of the furniture and resources into the temporary learning spaces. Please contact your classroom teacher as soon possible if you are able to help in any way.

Thanks,

The Junior Team

Help Needed!

The BIG MOVE is happening!

We are calling for any and all helpers we can get over the next few weeks. Any amount of time would be greatly appreciated. Help is needed to:

  • pack classroom resources
  • move boxes and furniture to the new temporary spaces
  • cleaning furniture and resources

In particular, we require parents/friends/family/neighbours to volunteer any amount of time THURSDAY 25th AUGUST, which will be our main moving day (dependent on current construction works, so please keep updated for any changes). Please contact your classroom teacher as soon as possible to see how they could use your assistance.

If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment on this post!

Junior Scientists

Some of you may have heard from your children that the Juniors have suddenly turned into Scientists! It is all very exciting! They are learning to Hypothesise and Observe and to be CURIOUS!

We are encouraging students to explore our Unit of Inquiry at home as well. The central idea they are learning is “Everyday materials can be physically changed in a variety of ways” with the key concept being CAUSATION – what made it that way?

Students have been looking at how different materials can be changed and how we can change things (bending, melting, tearing, squishing etc.). It is really easy to explore this idea at home too, such as:

  • Cooking;
  • Look at what clothes are made of;
  • Finding objects at home that can bend etc.

Your children might be keen to try different experiments at home as well, but we are happy for them to keep it nice and simple and just observe the changes, the causation and the consequences!!!

Book Week Parade

Wow! We were amazed at the IMAGINATION and CREATIVITY that our Junior Students showed at the Book Week Parade last Friday.

Everyone (including the teachers!) had lots of fun creating their costumes and celebrating all things about Books! We love seeing our students enjoying books and talking about favourite books at home and school.

Just a few snaps from the day!
